Travel to greece in july?

We have been reading about the current situation and violence in athens in the newspaper and are worried about the trip. We plan to be there from 21st july to 26th july. We have also read that public transport and ferry services are being shut. I would appreciate if you could give me a realistic picture of how bad things are in greece and if it is safe to travel. Your input will help us plan our trip. Thanks in advance for your help!
